For Brothers and Others
Older Scouts Set Examples

He's my big brother.  As a Boy Scout in waiting, I watched anxiously as my older brother got to do all the things I couldn’t. I wanted so desperately to be able to go to camp, learn fire building, and shoot a bow and arrow.  My big brother does it. I can’t wait until I am big enough to go with him. I watch every move he makes. I want to be just like him when I grow up. He’s so cool, he knows so much. csct-sml.gif (13302 bytes)
Being the older scout is a difficult position. You may be a big brother.  In any case you are one of the the "older guys" to the Tiger Cubs, Cubsalutesml.gif (12005 bytes) Scouts, and Webelos out there.  You are also, the only example they have of a Scout. Their little eyes see everything. Whatever they see you do or say is deeply engraved in their psyche. It’s a difficult job for you. But all things have a purpose. The little brother Scout grows and follows in your footsteps. He wants to accomplish what you have and even go farther than you dared --all because you showed him the way. You set the example.  He follows. Soon you will be able to look back at him with the pride and knowledge that you helped lead another to success
