Adv. Roundtable - Commissioner College

I have the "Advanced Roundtable" portion of our Commissioner College program. In the past this was an open discussion about "problems". The difficult part for me will be if the students are less than enthusiastic and don't throw out ideas. Help. Where can I go to discuss this either in your site or on the Internet. I am not computer savvy. -Mark I.

High Adventure Age Requirements

Pack Size

I'd like to hear what you have to say...We now have 37 boys and it looks like we will have an increase of 15 boys. from two different Packs...what are your limitations? - Jo Baldwin, Committee Chair

Re:Pack Size

Committees I served on used two criteria to identify size limitations when necessary: 1-The number of adult leaders available to insure that den size remained small. I know that many Packs have larger Dens but we tried to keep Den size to no more than eight Cub Scouts. 2-The limitations imposed by the Pack Meeting facilities. If those 15 boys bring with them 4 Den Leaders (2 Leaders, 2 assistants), parents willing to serve on the Pack Committee, and your meeting room has space for 15 more boys and their families, a 52 Member Pack should be a reasonable size. -MaryAnn, SCOUTER On-line Editor

Troop Size

What is the optimum membership limit for a Boy Scout troop? What experiences are available or are there any rules of thumb that are used to "right size" a troop? Have troop's size limitation efforts ever split up siblings between two or more troops? Any help in this endeavor to answer these questions will be appreciated. - Brian Boardman

Troop Bugler

I would be interested in hearing from anyone in the Scouting community who may be aware of any troop that has put together guidelines, procedures, or duties for the position of troop bugler. I am also interested in getting as much resource information for our existing and future troop buglers (besides the merit badge book and counselors) as possible. Thanks. - Rick Larson, ASM, Troop 625

Helping Parents Cross the Bridge

How do we as leaders help parents and scouts with the transistion from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts? It seems many parents would like it to remain the same for their boys entire scouting experience. -ASM
