Scouters With 6-10 Years Experience

My son came home from school saying, "Daddy I want to be a Tiger." We signed him up. My son was the reason I got involved. It wasn't hard to get me there, though, as I have always regretted not staying in Scouts. -Tom Gardner - 8yr.

I saw a request for volunteers in a church bulletin. I was a teacher that had returned to graduate school and I wanted some way of staying in contact with teaching and kids. Plus, I had a lot of wilderness skills that I thought would be fun to share. -Bob Geier - 9 yr.

My son wanted to join Scouts and I got involved to pay back to Scouting what it had done for me and to see my son involved in the Scouting experience. -Bob Beatty - 10 yr.

When my son brought home a School Night Flyer for Cub Scouts he was in the first grade. We thought it was important to be involved in his activities.(My son is now 16 years old and a Star Scout. -T.D. - 10 yr.

I was lucky to have adults that wanted something for the youth. I worked hard to get my Eagle, but, I forgot to THANK the people that helped me. I was asked to help out in the District. Frst I said "No." Then, I thought of the adults that helped me, and I changed my answer to "YES." -Patrick Trepp, 6 yr., Eagle Scout

My oldest son wanted to join Cub Scouts in 1993. So I joined with him. I had always wanted to get back into to Scouting to share with other boys what I had gotten from Scouting as a boy myself. -Paul Winston, 6 yr., Eagle Scout

I was talked into it by my brother-in-law who was ASM at the time my oldest wanted to join Webelos and they had no Leader. Since my oldest made Eagle in December 1997, and my youngest is 4 merit badges and a project away from the same, I guess it was a good decision on my part. My wife and I are both ASM's so that makes us all a part of Scouting. -Paul Bouy Jr - 8 yr.

I wanted to give back what I had learned and I missed the outdoor experiences. -Paul Parrish - 7 yr., Eagle Scout

I became involved with my son, as a Bear DL. I always wanted my sons to be in Scouts because i knew it was fun and that they would learn skills that would help them a life time. Skills that I learned even in my short Scouting experience as a boy helped me later in life especially in the military. -C.C. - 7 yr. Leader

My wife volunteered me to be Asst. CM at a parents meeting. I agreed because I had good memories of being a Cub Scout. My Mom was our Den Mother. My wife became a DL. I felt I had some dues to pay. -J.P. - 10 yr.

My son joined Tiger Cubs -Karen - 8 yr.

Because not many others wanted to do it -L.H.- 10 yr.

To give back to BSA what it has given to me. I enjoy working with Scouts and sharing the outdoors with them. -Mark Stewart, 9 yr., Eagle Scout
