SCOUTER Feature:
Scouting PenPals
by Ed Henderson
Few of us from the more than 150
nations of the worldwide Scouting community will ever meet at a World Jamboree. There are
other opportunities to get acquainted with Scouts who live in other places.
If you can't get to a National or
World Jamboree, JOTI (Jamboree
on the Internet) and JOTA (Jamboree on the Air -
For Ham and Short-wave Radios) are other popular annual events for Scouts. Visit
SCOUTER's Amateur Radio &
JOTA Compass Point for additional information.
Some Scouts seek out PenPals to
correspond with via mail or internet email. They enjoy exchanging messages with Scouts
with similar interests. SCOUTER has provided numerous links on our PenPal Compass Point to web pages which can help you
get started. Take a look at the SCOUTLINK PENPALS web site to begin.
Often leaders set up a Brother or
Sister Troop program and allow the Scouts to correspond with each other. |
